NOW UPDATED: Milk Value Portal

The dairy industry’s Milk Value Portal and Farmgate Milk Tool have been updated with new-season Milk Supply Agreement and pricing data from across Australia’s eight dairy production regions.

The portal now provides dairy farmers, advisers and industry stakeholders with six years of current and historical data on the value of raw milk across Australia.

Independent dairy analysts Ever.Ag say the latest data shows:

  • announced farmgate milk prices for 2026/27 in the Southern region are in the $8.80 to $9.50/kgMS range
  • the expected weighted-average price remains ahead of New Zealand and United States’ Class III producer payouts in local terms
  • the Commodity Milk Value (CMV) sits at $7.85/kgMS, 15 per cent lower than the same time last year
  • the AUD/USD exchange rate is 0.7141, 10 per cent higher year-on-year, and
  • dairy processors have taken broadly consistent approaches to pricing structures this season, and some have included temporary farmer support payments.

The Milk Value Portal remains Australia’s most comprehensive benchmark of raw milk value, drawing on independently aggregated data from processors representing about 90 per cent of the national milk pool and weighted by milk collection volumes.

It provides a valuable market benchmark, but it is not a predictor of what an individual farm will earn.

Actual farmgate returns will vary depending on factors such as location, farm size, milk composition, seasonal supply profile and the specific terms and incentives contained within a processor’s Milk Supply Agreement.

The portal provides unique insights into raw milk value across regions. Accurate information on expected farm earnings must come directly from a dairy processor.

Milk Supply Agreements and contract features from processors and brokers across all Australian dairy production regions are also available on the portal, helping farmers and advisers understand the terms and incentives on offer.
