ADIC submission on the Health Star Rating system

ADIC has lodged a submission to Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) on its proposal to make the Health Star Rating (HSR) system mandatory. While we support the HSR as a tool to help consumers compare similar foods, it must be scientifically accurate and align with the Australian Dietary Guidelines before becoming mandatory.

Our submission recommends improving Health Star Ratings for core cheeses so they better reflect current nutrition science, ensuring dairy and plant-based products are assessed fairly, aligning the HSR review with the Dietary Guidelines, and providing practical implementation timeframes that minimise unnecessary costs for manufacturers.
