ADPF calls for stronger due diligence on modern slavery

ADPF has lodged a submission to the Attorney-General’s Department consultation on strengthening Australia’s response to modern slavery in supply chains.

We support stronger action to prevent and address modern slavery, but have recommended strengthening due diligence requirements before introducing a new criminal failure-to-prevent offence.

ADPF is seeking a proportionate and workable framework, clear dairy-specific guidance, recognition of existing assurance systems, and safeguards against unnecessary costs being pushed onto farmers and smaller suppliers. We have also called for equivalent expectations on imported products to support a level playing field.
