ADPF supports strong, fair and enforceable safety net

The Australian Dairy Products Federation (ADPF) has made a submission to the House of Representatives Standing Committee Inquiry into the operation and adequacy of the National Employment Standards (NES).

In our submission, ADPF highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong, fair and enforceable safety net of minimum employment standards, while ensuring the framework remains practical and workable for continuous, regional manufacturing environments. ADPF called for targeted, technical improvements to elements of the NES, including provisions relating to maximum weekly hours, public holidays and leave administration.

The submission also emphasised the need for any proposed expansion of entitlements to be carefully assessed, including through sector-specific regulatory impact analysis, to ensure outcomes support productivity, regional employment and the long-term sustainability of dairy manufacturing businesses.
