Diving into water management

ADPF was participated in a tour of the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District and southern NSW last week, diving into water management and environmental sustainability.

With representatives from SA Dairyfarmers’ Association, Dairy Australian and Australian Dairy Farmers, we saw:

  • how dairy processors are converting whey permeate (a by-product of the cheese making process) into biogas
  • how water corporations and dairy farmers are implementing innovative practices to conserve water, and
  • how irrigation infrastructure can contribute to water savings for the environment.

From channel bank, farm to factory – the passion and commitment from our industry is truly inspiring!ADPF knows water is the lifeblood of dairy communities. Read our submission to the Draft Framework for Delivering Additional Environmental Water here.

ADPF also believes the establishment of a Minister-led industry advisory group is essential to provide meaningful input into the implementation of the Murray-Darling Basin (MDB) Plan to ensure the livelihood of dairy farmers, processors and communities.
