21-27 August is Healthy Bones Action Week

Poor bone health affects 2 in 3 Australians and only 10% of Australians get the recommended amount of dairy they need in their diet each day. This means that more than 50% of Australians, are not meeting their daily calcium requirements.

This week is Healthy Bones Action Week and we’re raising awareness of the fact that strong bones are a key to us all leading a long healthy, active, and independent life.

Incorporating just a few simple steps into your diet each day is all it takes to help build and maintain strong and healthy bones at any age:

1. Eating calcium-rich dairy foods, like milk, cheese and yogurt;
2. Doing regular weight-bearing exercise; and
3. Enjoying safe levels of sunshine for Vitamin D.

As a simple rule, we should all aim for an average of three serves of dairy a day – a 250mL glass of milk, a 200g tub of delicious yoghurt or 2 slices of cheese. Strong bones… yet another reason to add more Australian dairy products to our shops.
