ADPF Submission: Reform of Packaging Regulation

ADPF has submitted feedback to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) regarding the Reform of Packaging Regulation, specifically focusing on the perishability of dairy foods and the critical role packaging plays in ensuring product safety, quality, and compliance with consumer expectations.

The proposed regulatory changes, including mandatory recyclability, recycled content thresholds, and extended producer responsibility, may have significant implications for dairy packaging.

These changes could impact material choices, raise costs, and require operational adjustments.

We are keen to work collaboratively to ensure that packaging reform supports both sustainability and the long-term economic viability of the sector.

Furthermore, we recommend establishing a representative advisory group for ongoing consultation and co-design of future steps.
